I have posted before that Milk of Magnesia is good for keeping oily skin types under control...
I have also read that in the long run it may not be such an excellent product for use on your skin everyday, (see here..inside facts of MoM) you can still use it as a occasional mask at times, but preferably not every single day.
I used to do this every day under my makeup and it worked, but as always, when trying to use more natural products, you have to constantly be researching to know the reality behind the natural products you may want to use on your skin.
So I came across this amazing product called "Rice Powder"
For those of you on facebook, you may be familiar with Haléner Rustique.
I was scrolling through her page one day and I saw she was selling this little powder in a jar called 'rice powder'...I Googled it and I was amazed that it was also being used to keep oily skin matte throughout the day.
I decided to order two jars from her..the powder looks like this:
I have had this for about two or three weeks now. I have been trying it out everyday since I got it. You can apply it with or without foundation. I use it after as a setting powder.
So after using this rice mixture on my face every morning for more than two weeks, I can positively conclude that such a mixture does not cause blocked pores or blemishes, and just makes my face feel incredibly comfortable during the day. Touch-ups are rarely necessary and you can feel more confident in your own skin.
I hope to encourage all those sensitive and oily skinned gals out there to try using more natural powders, and avoid over priced talc based finishing powders for oil control, and to experiment a little with using a light dusting of silk/rice powder for comfort and oil control!
In conclusion: For anyone with oily skin, rice powder is a life saver. It absorbs the excess oil on your skin but doesn't oxidise (change colour to cause your skin to look lifeless and two toned) and it is a much better alternative to silicons and talc (ingredients in those expensive 'oil blocking' powders)- which are known to be potential skin clogging and irritating ingredients.
Rice powder is just a fine grit powder...and yes even though it is white you can use it on any skin tone. It just blends right in...it would not coat your skin preventing it from breathing.
*NB- If you are from Trinidad, check out Haléner Rustique. page and ask her about this powder.
Other countries may have this powder in a cosmetics store.
