Yes, it'll work! I
have been using CaraMia and Jordana lip liners for over two months now, and it definitely
works!
It's usually drier than lipstick, but it tends to last longer
than lipstick. It is not as sticky or
slimy, so when you talk or eat, it doesn’t just slide off.
Also, if you fill in your lips with liner and then layer
lipstick over top of it, your lipstick will set better and last longer than if
you just applied it to bare lips.
I use the tip to line my lips and the side of the pencil to fill in.

To avoid it from looking too dry and for it to blend it into
your lips, use a moisturizing lip balm underneath. If you are satisfied with this matte look,
then you’re all set :)
…if not, try a clear gloss on top.
Oh, and make sure the outline of your lips is blended well
and not too harsh, otherwise it can look ridiculous.
One last thing to remember most lip liners are matte, and
they can magnify your dry lips (if you have dry lips), so make sure you
exfoliate your lips regularly to keep them supple and soft.
Also remember lip stains are not as nice as using a lip liner. All the rave about lip stains is seriously not worth it. They do not last all day (well for me) and they are extremely drying and end up coming off in patches during the day...
Have you ever used a lip liner as a lipstick? How did it work?
